In keeping with the charming architecture and exquisite beauty of “The Flower Town in The Pines” as well as its commitment to “Smart Growth” communities, Meeting Street has designed and built an enclave of only 34 luxury homes that overlooks the new golf course, a wooded wetland preserve, or a small pond. Legend Oaks provides a resort like living experience without the extreme prices of other Low Country resort neighborhoods.
Inspired by the quaintness and old-world charm of Charleston and Summerville, Meeting Street designed two series of homes – the Carriage House Series and the Club Cottage Series – that preserve the architectural themes and historical aspects of this elegant community. All homes feature fiber-cement siding (Hardiplank or equal), two car garages, nine-foot ceilings (principal living areas, both floors) and solid surface countertops.
Named by Kiplinger's as one of the "Best Retirement Locations in America," Summerville has the only five-diamond restaurant in South Carolina. The Woodlands Resort & Inn happens to be in a class of its own - one of only three resorts in the country recognized with both the Mobil Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond Awards for excellence. Summerville is also home to the Dorchester II School District, which is rated as having some of the best schools in South Carolina.
Historically a retreat from Charleston's "marshes and swamps", Summerville features over 700 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The esthetic beauty of the area is perhaps at its peak when spring brings an incredible profusion of azaleas, wisteria and dogwood, giving a hint why Summerville is known as "Flowertown."
The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 has extended the tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence. The tax credit now applies to sales occurring on or after January 1, 2009 and on or before April 30, 2010. However, in cases where a binding sales contract is signed by April 30, 2010, a home purchase completed by June 30, 2010 will qualify.
