Why Meeting Street is Unique

Local Builder, Charlotte Based:

  • More in tune to the Charlotte New Home Market and its buyers.
  • Gives back to the community with time and money (local contributions listed):
    • Habitat for Humanity
    • Samaritans Purse
    • Children’s Miracle Network
    • YMCA
    • Loaves and Fishes
    • Salvation Army

Old World Style brought to New Construction:

  • Meeting Street takes pride in building on the classic traditions from old neighborhoods such as Charleston, New Orleans, Boston, Alexandria, Georgetown and Savannah. (designed to take the best from the past)
    • Authentic architectural details:
      • Round downspouts on all home series and collector boxes on our towns (to add a true authentic look).
      • Dormers (per plan).
      • Window detail:
        • Decorative headers (jack arches with concrete or brick).
        • Planter boxes.
        • Brick over windows, done to give a look of change over time (as if it was a window and someone changed it). This also allows us to maintain symmetry on our front elevations.
        • Shutters installed with hinges and shutter “dogs”, not just nailed and screwed into the side of the home, which can be used.
      • Front door detail:
        • Pediments above the front doors.
        • Brick walk and stoops.
        • Door surrounds.
        • Large livable, usable front porches (per plan & elevation).
    • Brick townhomes.
    • Tumbled brick with grapevine joints are used to give it an “old world” look.
    • Symmetry on the front elevation of all of our homes.
    • Garages and utilities are located behind each home in a back alley to maintain a beautiful streetscape.
    • Private courtyards with fencing (per plan & community).
    • When possible, buildings are positioned to form town-style parks and green open spaces.
    • Designed to accommodate on street parking.

Deliberate Planning to Create a REAL Community:

  • MS deliberately plans their neighborhoods to promote homeowner involvement within the community thus providing a sense of security and belonging to something larger.
  • Meeting Street is a leader in creating pedestrian friendly and beautiful neighborhoods consistent with the shared green space movement.
    • Homes are built closer to each other, closer to the sidewalks, and closer to the streets to promote a connection and interaction with your neighbors. It also promotes a sense of security.
    • Homes which have porches on the front to also promote interaction with your neighbors.
    • Streets are often narrow to slow traffic and lined with trees to soften and beautify the neighborhood.
    • Wide sidewalks usually line both sides of the street and are adorned by traditional style lamp posts.
    • When possible, buildings are positioned to create town-style public parks and natural greens that are beautifully landscaped for the homeowners to enjoy.

Community Location and Conveniences:

  • Meeting Street puts a tremendous amount of forethought in the design and LOCATION of its neighborhoods. You won’t see a Meeting Street community just anywhere. Each community we build is conceived and designed in such a manner as to encourage interaction with neighbors and reduce mandatory time spent in cars by being close to places of work and shopping. We respect the busy lifestyles of our Buyers. Each community has something to offer in proximity to shopping, grocery, restaurants, entertainment, hospitals and leisure activity (usually within walking distance). LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
  • Buying in any of our Meeting Street communities is truly an investment. Instead of a commodity we have a VALUABLE and LIMITED resource. Meeting Street doesn’t build your typical home and community. People are so busy today that they demand convenience (everything at their fingertips). Meeting Street is a leader in this type of “all in one” community. Our communities are truly a place where you can live, work and play!

Customer Involvement:

  • Meeting Street involves each homebuyer in the building process of their home…
    • Pre-Construction Meeting - This meeting gives the buyer an opportunity to meet and create a relationship with the Builder in charge of their home. The Builder will review their home selections, the building process and what can be expected at each phase, as well as, other meetings that will require customer involvement.
    • Pre-Drywall Meeting – This meeting is an opportunity for the buyer to review all selections that had to be installed prior to drywall to confirm that they are in the proper locations.
    • QC or Quality Control - After the Builder has completed the home and before the buyer walks the home, a Quality Control Inspector from our Customer Care Department will walk the home and go through a very detailed inspection check list. This puts an extra set of eyes on the home that is not the Builders to make sure that the home is complete and ready to be delivered to the buyer.
    • Home Owner Orientation – This meeting provides the buyer with a wealth of information including tips and techniques on homeowner maintenance and troubleshooting. The Builder also goes over what is covered under the warranty and how to contact the customer care department.
    • Re-Walk – The re-walk is scheduled one week following the home owner orientation to allow the Builder ample time to complete any outstanding work before the closing. This week is critical in the scheduling process as Meeting Street prides itself in delivering a completed home to every homeowner. WE DON’T CLOSE A HOME THAT IS NOT 100% COMPLETE!
    • Home Owner Follow-up – The homeowner is given an opportunity to schedule a two (2) month and eleven (11) month follow-up to correct items that may have become apparent after being in the home.
  • All of these meetings give the buyer proper expectations, peace of mind and keeps them involved in the process.

The Builders:

Most of our Meeting Street builders have a college degree in Construction Management and/or a General Contractors License. This is a plus because the Builder is educated on the proper construction applications of each phase of construction.

We Go The Extra Mile:

Meeting Street chooses their building products based upon what is superior in the market and what will reduce required homeowner maintenance.

  • Low maintenance landscaping – draught tolerant.
  • Low maintenance exterior veneer brick or fiber cement siding.
  • No rot exterior trim on the home. Mira Tec or Synboard is used instead of “raw” wood. You will not see any rotting wood on a Meeting Street home!
  • We use Dow Styromate house wrap – superior over woven house wrap.
  • We tape our house wrap to prevent air infiltration.
  • We tape and flash all of our windows and doors to prevent water infiltration.
  • Framing material/method. We construct our homes using wall panels and trusses built in an indoor manufacturing facility to ensure minimum exposure to weather. Benefits are the home is built quicker, more accurate (straight, plumb, and square) and reduced waste.
  • Our truss system allows for more efficient routings of plumbing, electrical and duct work to be run throughout the floor/ceiling without cutting into the trusses. This makes our floors and roofs stronger.
  • We us Fiberglass Doors (not steel or wood). They won’t easily dent like steel and warp or rot like wood. They also provide better insulation than steel or wood doors.
  • We install full depth picture framed windows with full wood extension returns. LOOK for drywall in this area on other Builder products.
  • We install Sterling Vikrell tubs (a Kohler company) – reputable company, good name, better looking and less tub damage during the installation process due to its design.
  • Extensive trim packages are included – Crown Molding in the formal areas; Chair Rail and Picture Molding in the dining rooms; 7 ¼” base board on first floor and 5” base boards on second floor in Club Cottage Homes, 3 ½” base boards in the Urban Townhomes.
  • We build a minimum nine (9) foot ceiling height on the first floor of all of our homes.
  • We screw and glue our floors to help prevent squeaks and provide a quieter floor.
  • We use upgraded plumbing fixtures.
  • We use upgraded brushed nickel door hardware. NO BRASS or CHROME.
  • We use upgraded lighting fixtures inside and out. NO BRASS.
  • Our shingles are a minimum 25 year shingle.
